Practicing Wise Speech: NVC-Dharma
Wise speech is a foundational practice for socially engaged Buddhists. As we bring our practice off the cushion and into the world, we step out of noble silence and open our mouths to speak. What comes out?
Some engaged Buddhists have found the practice of nonviolent communication to be a useful tool for practicing speech that communicates our feelings directly. Former BPF staffer Ñaniko (Oren Sofer) is offering a new class series that integrates nonviolent communication with dharma insights. If you are in the Bay Area, check it out! If you are outside the Bay Area, check out Oren’s work and other nonviolent communication resources in your area.
After two years of intensive study and meditation practice, Ñaniko (Oren Jay Sofer) will be offering a new “NVC-Dharma” series during his stay this fall in the San Francisco Bay area. Integrating the insights and practices of Buddhist meditation with the tools of Nonviolent Communication, Ñaniko brings a unique and powerful perspective to living and speaking mindfully. This class will be the only series Ñaniko is teaching in the Bay area until 2014 or later.
